Sam Hollingsworth is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (D.A.A.P), where he studied drawing and painting with Phillip Foster, Robert Fabe and Reginald Grooms. His studies continued at The Art Academy of Cincinnati with instruction by Jack Meanwell and Marlene Steele.
Mr. Hollingsworth paints a variety of subjects in watercolor and acrylics specializing in surrealistic and abstract images. He is represented in Cincinnati by the Marta Hewett Gallery and the Agora Gallery in Chelsea NYC. His work is in private collections in Cincinnati Youngstown, Boston, Santa Fe and Florida. He has won numberous awards in juried shows in the Midwest.
He has been the lead jurist in regional art competitions and has served as curator for several art and cultural displays. A former painting instructor at Baker-Hunt Art and Culture Center in Covington, KY, he teaches modern and cocntemporary art history for OLLI at The University of Cincinnati while maintaing a studio in Newport, KY
